Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how TEK-IT collects, uses, and shares information when you use tek-it.com, submit a form, or use our website chat assistant. TEK-IT provides electrical and lighting planning, home automation, automated shades, audio and video, networking, security, and prewire services throughout all of Utah.

Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to give us and a limited amount of technical information when you visit.

  • Form and project information: name, email address, phone number, company name, project location or address, project type and phase, services of interest, home size or value ranges, names of architects, designers, or contractors, expected completion dates, and the message or project details you write.
  • Career applications: your name, email address, phone number, position of interest, message, and the resume you upload. Our hosted application form processes this information through LeadConnector. Applicant files are not public website content; provider-side storage, retention, and delivery depend on our hosted-form configuration.
  • Chat messages: the questions and messages you type into the TEK-IT chat assistant. The chat history for your current conversation is kept in your browser's sessionStorage for that browser tab and is cleared when the tab session ends.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, and server request details that our hosting and security providers receive when your browser connects to the site or submits a form.

Information You Submit Through Website Forms

The consultation form, the project details intake form, and the builder and designer inquiry form collect contact information and project details. The Careers application form collects contact information, your position of interest, a message, and a resume. Fields marked with an asterisk are required. Share only what is needed for your inquiry or application, and do not include sensitive identifiers such as government identification numbers.

These forms are hosted by LeadConnector. To avoid loading provider tracking that our website cannot independently disable, we load the embedded forms only after you accept optional services. If you opt out, you can contact us by phone or email, or deliberately open a form on the provider's website. Our website's tracking controls do not govern that separate website.

How We Use Information

  • Responding to your inquiries and chat questions.
  • Providing requested services, including planning and preparing estimates.
  • Scheduling consultations, appointments, or estimates.
  • Reviewing career applications and contacting applicants about their application.
  • Customer and project communication by email, phone call, and text message.
  • Protecting the site and forms from spam and abuse.
  • Maintaining and improving the website and chat assistant.
  • Marketing communication where applicable. We do not currently operate a newsletter, and if we begin sending marketing messages we will honor your choices as described below.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Google Analytics 4 loads before acceptance using Consent Mode v2 with analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization denied. It sends cookieless measurement signals to Google, which still involves transmitting request and browsing information; cookieless does not mean no data is sent. Analytics cookie storage is enabled only after you select Accept All. A saved opt-out or Global Privacy Control signal blocks GA4 entirely, including cookieless measurement. Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session recordings load only after acceptance. No Meta Pixel tracking ID is currently configured.

We store your browser's privacy preference in localStorage as us_privacy_consent: accepted, opted_out, or unset. Unset allows only GA4 cookieless measurement; other optional services stay disabled. Closing the notice is not acceptance. If browser storage is unavailable, we honor your choice for the current page but cannot guarantee it persists on later visits. These choices are browser-specific, not an account-wide record.

The chat assistant uses sessionStorage to keep your conversation in the current tab. Essential hosting, security, and functions you request remain available after an opt-out. LeadConnector embeds may use their own cookies, attribution, or tracking, which cannot be independently controlled inside a cross-origin frame.

Third-Party Services

  • Replit and OpenAI: chat messages and the recent conversation are sent to our server and processed by an AI model through Replit and OpenAI to generate replies. Please do not enter sensitive personal information in the chat.
  • LeadConnector: hosts our consultation, project details, and Careers forms and processes submitted contact information, project details, applications, and uploaded files. Its hosted forms may use security or attribution services, including Cloudflare. The provider's practices and our account settings govern provider-side processing.
  • Hosting and server logs: our hosting environment and server may record request information such as IP address, time, and pages requested.
  • Analytics: unless you opt out or send Global Privacy Control, Google Analytics receives cookieless measurement signals before acceptance with storage consent denied. After Accept All, analytics cookie storage and Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session recordings are enabled. Google Signals and ad personalization signals remain disabled in our GA4 configuration. Meta Pixel is not currently configured. Depending on the arrangement and applicable law, advertising disclosures may constitute a sale, sharing, or processing for targeted advertising.
  • Social links: the footer links to our Instagram and Facebook pages, which are operated by those companies under their own policies.

How Information May Be Shared

Information may be shared with service providers that help us operate the website, run the chat assistant, verify forms, host the site, and deliver email, and as needed to respond to your request, comply with law, or protect our rights and users. The restrictions on sharing mobile information are described below.

Text Messages and Phone Calls

By providing your phone number, you consent to receive calls and text messages from TEK-IT regarding your inquiry, appointments, services, and, where applicable, promotional communications. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. Consent to receive marketing text messages is not a condition of purchase.

Mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for their own promotional or marketing purposes, except as necessary to provide requested services or as otherwise described in this policy.

The website's forms are for inquiries and project coordination, not enrollment in a promotional text message program. Any promotional messages would require separate applicable consent.

Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, including verification on our forms and limiting submissions to the channels described here. No website or electronic transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep information as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, provide requested services, maintain project records, and meet legal or business needs. Chat history in your browser tab is removed when the tab session ends. You may ask us to review or delete information by contacting us.

Your Privacy Choices

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: use the permanent footer link or the privacy choices control below to opt out of optional analytics and advertising tracking, including sale, sharing, and targeted-advertising tracking implemented on this website. No account, identity verification, or payment is required to use this browser opt-out.

Opting out stops future optional tracking on this website; it does not recall information already sent, delete previously submitted forms, or unsubscribe you from email or text messages. When optional services have already loaded, we reload the page to stop their running code. This can clear unsent form data.

Depending on your state and applicable law, including California, Virginia, and Colorado, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain significant-decision profiling, and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. Rights and exceptions vary by jurisdiction.

To submit a privacy rights request, email info@tek-it.com and describe your request. We may need to verify identity for access, correction, or deletion requests, but not for the website tracking opt-out. You may use an authorized agent as permitted by law. If we decline a request, you may appeal by emailing the same address with the subject Privacy Appeal; you may also contact your state's attorney general. We will handle requests and appeals within applicable legal timelines and will not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights.

  • Email: if we send marketing emails, you may unsubscribe using the link in the message or by contacting us.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any text message, or contact us, to opt out.
  • Access or deletion: contact us to ask questions or make a request about your information.

Global Privacy Control

When your browser exposes navigator.globalPrivacyControl as true, we automatically apply opted_out, suppress the initial privacy banner, and block optional analytics, advertising scripts, and hosted form embeds. This signal takes priority over an earlier Accept All choice and cannot be overridden by that button while the signal is active.

We check the signal at startup, when the page resumes, and periodically while it is open. Turning the signal off does not automatically opt you back in; your opt-out remains until you deliberately change it. Your preference applies to this browser and the optional integrations controlled by this website, not all devices or independently visited third-party websites.

Third-Party Links

The website may link to third-party sites such as social media. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Children's Privacy

The website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will work to remove it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
