The Problem
Consider the Details Before the Walls Close
Speaker locations, shade power, controls, and network coverage belong in the drawings. Planning early helps avoid visible wiring and disruptive changes later.

Everyday Life
What Gets Decided Before the Walls Close
Television Locations
Every display location is planned from the drawings — conduit is run in the wall, power is positioned correctly, and the mounting surface is structurally reinforced.
Speaker Placement
Speaker locations are determined based on room dimensions, seating positions, and ceiling height before drywall — then backed, wired, and covered for a clean installation.
Wi-Fi Access Points
Access-point locations are chosen for coverage — not convenience — and home-run cable is pulled to each location during construction when access is easy.
Automated Shade Power
Power is run to every shade pocket and header location during electrical rough-in. Shade motors that didn't get power during construction almost always require expensive wall repairs later.
Security Camera Positions
Camera mounting heights, angles, and power locations are determined from construction drawings and confirmed on-site during framing — so every camera covers exactly what it's meant to.
New Construction
When to Involve TEK-IT
Involve us during design or framing so technology can be coordinated with the architectural and electrical plans.
- Design phase: technology scope developed alongside the architectural drawings
- Pre-permit: technology infrastructure included in the permit set where required
- Framing phase: blocking, mounting, and first-fix wiring during rough construction
- Rough-in phase: all low-voltage infrastructure installed before insulation and drywall
- Trim-out phase: devices, keypads, speakers, and equipment installed after paint
- Final walkthrough: programming, testing, and homeowner training before turnover
Remodels & Existing Homes
Whole-Home Remodels
Open walls create an opportunity to improve the infrastructure. We identify what can be updated now and what needs to work around existing finishes.
Design & Aesthetics
Working With Your Builder's Design Team
Our electrical and integration teams coordinate with architects, designers, and builders so controls, speakers, and equipment fit the finished design.
